Live-In Care in Indianapolis & Central Indiana
A dedicated caregiver who lives in the home, so your loved one has consistent, familiar support throughout the day and night.
What does a live-in caregiver do?
A live-in caregiver stays in the client’s home and provides non-medical support throughout the day, including personal care, meals, housekeeping, companionship, medication reminders and help with safety. They also have scheduled sleep and breaks. APSA arranges live-in care for families in Indianapolis and Central Indiana.
Is Live-In Care Right for Your Family?
Live-in care can be a strong fit when your loved one:
- Should not be alone for long periods, but usually sleeps through the night
- Does best with one familiar caregiver and a steady routine
- Wants to stay at home instead of moving to assisted living
- Needs help across the day with meals, personal care, mobility and reminders
If your loved one needs frequent help overnight, 24-hour care with awake caregivers in shifts is usually the safer option. We will help you decide honestly.

Non-medical care: APSA is an IDH-licensed Personal Services Agency that provides non-medical, in-home support. Our caregivers do not provide skilled nursing or medical treatment, such as wound care, injections or administering medication. If your loved one needs medical care at home, we can work alongside the home health or hospice provider their physician arranges.
Live-In Care vs. 24-Hour Care
Live-in care: one caregiver lives in the home and has scheduled sleep and breaks. 24-hour care: caregivers work in shifts and stay awake around the clock. The right choice depends on how much help is needed at night.
Caregiver Screening and Matching
Every APSA caregiver completes our 14-step vetting process, which includes identity verification, national, state and local background checks, sex offender registry and abuse, neglect and exclusion screening, reference and credential checks, skills testing and a client-match assessment.
Because a live-in caregiver becomes part of daily life, we pay close attention to personality, communication style and household fit.
What Affects the Cost of Live-In Care
Cost depends on the level of personal care needed, overnight needs, household responsibilities and coordination preferences. We explain costs clearly during your consultation, before care begins. Live-in care is private pay. APSA does not bill long-term care insurance directly, but clients can submit APSA invoices to their insurer for reimbursement.
